I’m Sarah. I live in Southeast Minnesota and I want to instill a love of reading in children through compassion and research. I truly believe literacy is a critical skill that students need to acquire to be successful in education.
When I am not working I am spending time with my family, making a new recipe in the kitchen, or reading a book about health and fitness.
I live in Minnesota with my husband and step son. We enjoy traveling to our cabin and going boating in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.
I work with students Kindergarten through 5th grade on foundational literacy skills.
I tutor in person in Rochester, Minnesota and virtually everywhere else. Please click this link to book discovery call for a tutoring session.
I am a nurturing person by nature and I feel most creative and passionate when helping children learn. Really, people tell me I have a “knack” for working with kids. I truly enjoy watching children’s minds work while they explore, discover, and ultimately gain new knowledge about themselves and the world around them.
Additionally, I hold my master’s of arts in teaching, and throughout my education I have gained research-based teaching strategies, conducted my own literacy research, and had many hands-on experiences with one on one reading interventions.
What this means is I use research to help children learn and grow according to where they are at developmentally. I am fortunate enough to have many amazing educators prepare me for teaching lessons unique to each child.
Below I have included a graphic to showcase my qualifications and education history. Please take a moment to review it and reach out if you would like to work together!

Tutoring is a big commitment for everyone involved. First, I like to make sure the adults are on the same page regarding tutoring through a discovery call. You can click here to schedule yours.
After your discovery call we will discuss times, location, payment, and I will present a learning guide. I know everyone’s lives are busy so I try to accommodate people’s schedules as much as possible so I have created a booking calendar here that shows my tutoring available.
Once your child’s first session arrives we will have some get to know you activities and then I will have your student perfrom literacy assessments. These are used to determine what skills we should start working on first.
After the first session I will provide a detailed learning guide and if everyone agrees to the plan we will begin tutoring on a regular basis.
Tutoring sessions are 30 minutes in length. This allows your student to stay focused as much as possible and get the most learning out of their time each session. Every session we will work towards mastery of individualized literacy skills.
I believe every child’s needs are different, so one literacy program may work for one student, but it could be longer or shorter for another. That being said, I offer 3 different tutoring packages. X, X, X.
Tutoring is a commitment to your child’s education and mastery won’t be accomplished in one or even two sessions. According to most reading intervention programs, you need twelve weeks to assess their skills, practice their skills, and reassess what they have learned. Most of my packages require a time commitment to ensure your student receives the best results. You can read more about my pricing here.
