I recall seeing these types of posts circulating on social media for years, typically when someone reaches a milestone birthday: 25 lessons I learned by 25 or 30 lessons I learned by 30, and so on. I have always loved reading them in the hopes of finding some inspiration that my younger self could implement.
Now, I am the 30-year-old writing that exact post. I hope these lessons I share inspire you or teach you something new, regardless of your age.
30 Life Lessons I’ve Learned
Whatever they said, it says more about them and less about you
No one cares what you do or don’t do—so go for it
If something is on your heart, then it’s a sign you should go for it
Friends will come and go with different seasons of your life; however, don’t take any of them for granted
Hurt people hurt people
Be the friend you wish you had
Treat your body like a vessel— you only have one
Read more books
Don’t underestimate the power of a walk outside
You always have time for meditation or breathwork
Be scared and do it anyway
Remember, growth happens outside of your comfort zone
Time spent resting or relaxing is not wasted time
Play more
Invest in yourself, whether it’s personal development, supplements, or courses— be willing to prioritize spending money on yourself.
Be willing to be a beginner at something
Know your breath is a tool that’s always with you
Don’t wish your life away— what you have now is something you prayed for
The greatest opponent to fear is taking action
Sometimes peace is more important than being right
There’s no feeling like parenting with someone you love. It’s worth waiting for
You will realize home is not a place as much as it is a feeling or a person
Everyone wants to be seen. Listen more than you talk.
Keep doing the hard work
If you wait until you feel ready, you might never pursue that thing at all.
Enjoy the process > the outcome
Consume less. Create more.
Your thoughts create your feelings, and your feelings drive your actions or inactions.
Small, consistent actions will compound over time.
Anyone can unlearn and relearn. Neuroplasticity is one of the coolest concepts you’ll discover in your 20s.
I will reflect on this list years from now, and I will have gained so much more wisdom by then. I genuinely hope this sparks some inspiration. Please email me if you have any questions or would like to share something you’ve discovered in your life. I’d love to hear about it!
Rooting for you,
Sarah
