Is It Too Late to Launch My Website?

Web Design

I get this question all the time. Usually from a medspa owner, esthetician, or wellness founder who’s watched everyone else in her industry post a gorgeous website launch on Instagram and thinks she missed her window. Simply put: no. It’s not too late to launch your website. In this blog post I’m going to dive into the reasons why it’s important to still have a website– especially in the age of AI.

You didn’t miss the window for launching your website.

83% of small businesses have a website now, up from 64% in 2018. That means almost 1 in 5 businesses still don’t have one. If you’re in that group, you’re not late. You’re someone in your industry who still has the chance to stand out with a real, strategic online presence instead of blending into a sea of sameness.

I’ve built Showit websites for medspa owners, nurse injectors, and estheticians who felt exactly like this. They’d say things like: “Everyone already has a website. What’s the point of mine now?” or “Instagram is pretty good at getting me clients. Do I really need a website?”

Yes, yes you do. The point is that most of those websites aren’t built to be found. But yours can be.

Why “Everyone Already Has One” Is the Wrong Way to Think About A Website

When you compare yourself to others in your industry there’s an important distinction to consider: having a website and having a website that works. They are two completely different things.

Most beauty and wellness websites are:

  • Built years ago and never updated
  • Not optimized for mobile, despite most of your clients booking from their phone
  • Missing the content that actually gets found in search or AI tools
  • Beautiful, but silent. No strategy behind the words on the page

So while it might feel like you’re behind because everyone has a site, you’re actually early to something most of your competitors haven’t caught up to yet. That’s the shift I want you to make. A Showit website isn’t a box to check. It’s a tool that works for you around the clock, and most of your competitors haven’t set theirs up to do that.

Why a Website Still Matters in 2026 (Even With AI Search Everywhere)

This is where it gets interesting. A lot of people assume that because AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude are answering questions now, websites matter less.

It’s the opposite.

AI tools have to pull their answers from somewhere. (Please read that again.) That somewhere is websites. Which means having a well-built website isn’t just about ranking on Google anymore. It’s about becoming the source that AI tools quote back to the exact client who’s searching for you.

Let’s break down the three things your Showit website needs to work in 2026 and beyond.

What Is SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. It’s the practice of building your website so Google understands what you do, who you help, and why you’re the right result for someone’s search.

Think of SEO like the address on your storefront. If Google can’t read your address clearly, it can’t send people to your door, no matter how beautiful the inside is.

For your Showit website, SEO means:

  • Your pages are titled and described in a way Google understands
  • Your content actually answers the questions your clients are typing in
  • Your site loads fast and works well on mobile

What Is AEO?

AEO stands for answer engine optimization. This is newer, and it’s the reason your website matters even more now, not less.

AEO is about building your content so it gets pulled as a direct answer. Think featured snippets, “People also ask” boxes, and voice search results. Someone types “how much does a Showit website cost for an esthetician” into Google, and your content is the answer that shows up at the top, no click required.

For your Showit website, AEO means:

  • Your content answers real questions in complete, standalone sections
  • You use clear headers that match how people actually search
  • You give a direct, bolded answer before you explain the “why”

What Is GEO?

GEO stands for generative engine optimization. This is about showing up when someone asks ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini a question instead of typing it into Google.

Your ideal client might type “best medspa in Austin, TX” into Claude instead of Google now. GEO is what determines whether your website gets pulled into that answer, or whether your competitor’s does.

For your Showit website, GEO means:

  • Your content is specific, structured, and easy for AI tools to lift and quote
  • You’ve built topical authority around your niche instead of trying to cover everything
  • Your website has real substance behind it, not just pretty pages with no words

The Three Working Together

I like to think of SEO, AEO, and GEO like three different doors into the same room, which is your Showit website.

Type of Search What It Gets YouWhere People Find You
SEOTraditional Google rankingsSearch results page
AEODirect answers, no click neededFeatured snippets, voice search
GEOAI-generated recommendationsChatGPT, Claude, Gemini

You don’t have to pick one. A well-built Showit website with the right content strategy behind it works all three doors at once.

What Launching Now Looks Like in This New Tech Age

If you’ve been putting off launching because you think you’re behind, it’s not a problem because now is a great time to leverage having a website. Every Showit website I’ve built started with someone feeling exactly where you’re standing right now.

The businesses that win in the AI era aren’t the ones who launched first. They’re the ones who launch with strategy behind the design.

That means:

  1. A Showit website built mobile-first, because that’s where your clients are booking from
  2. Content written to answer the real questions your ideal client is asking Google and AI tools
  3. A structure that makes it easy for search engines and AI tools to understand what you do and who you help
  4. A design that finally matches the level of expertise you bring to your clients in person

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you start. You just need to start with the right foundation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it too late to launch a website now?

No, it is not too late to launch a website in 2026. A meaningful share of small businesses still don’t have one, and even more have outdated sites that aren’t built to be found in search or AI tools. Launching now with the right strategy behind your Showit website puts you ahead of most of your competitors, not behind them.

What is the difference between SEO, AEO, and GEO?

SEO is optimizing for traditional Google search results. AEO is optimizing for direct answers like featured snippets and voice search. GEO is optimizing for AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude. All three rely on the same foundation: a website with clear, structured, genuinely useful content. A strong Showit website can work all three at once.

Do I need a website if I’m active on social media?

Yes, you still need a website even with an active social media presence. Social platforms control your reach, your content disappears within days, and none of it shows up when someone searches Google or asks an AI tool for a recommendation. Your Showit website is the one piece of your online presence you fully own and control.

How long does it take to build a Showit website?

A custom Showit website can be built in as little as two weeks with the right process in place. The timeline depends on how much content strategy and copywriting is needed alongside the design, but launching quickly and launching well are not mutually exclusive.

Will AI tools replace the need for a website?

No, AI tools make a well-built website more important, not less. AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude pull their answers from existing websites. If your Showit website has clear, structured, specific content, it becomes a source those tools can quote and recommend directly to your ideal client.
